Our story

The history of Clos Ornasca began in the municipality of Eccica Suarella in 1989. The proud owner of 5 hectares of vineyards, my father, Vincent Tola, was committed to working the land of his native Corsica. Sparing no effort, he managed to restructure 10 hectares of traditional vineyards over the course of just 6 years of work. Equipped with a modern and high-performance winery, he was committed to prioritising quality, growing local grape varieties specific to the controlled-origin appellation (AOC).   In 1999, I took over the family farm, before teaming up with Jean-Antoine, my husband, when my father died prematurely in 2001. Keen to preserve the wonderful heritage of our Île de Beauté, we strive to practise responsible agriculture. Since 2017, we have been working towards conversion with rigour and passion, to put organic products at the heart of our production. As winemakers, people and the environment are our priorities. Since our 2020 vintage, we have held ECOCERT certification for Organic Agriculture.   In 2018, almost 20 years after taking over the reins of the family estate, we have seen our work rewarded by the Hachette Guide, who named me winemaker of the year. As one of the youngest vineyards in the region, Clos Ornasca continues to grow and assert itself. It now covers nearly 13 hectares of land and is our daily pride.

The estate

Rocked by winds and tides, the Île de Beauté stands proudly in the heart of the Mediterranean. Between sea and mountain, our estate enjoys incredible sunshine all year round. Just a stone's throw from Ajaccio, it is perfectly located to take advantage of all the elements.  Contact us for group tour or visit

Certifications

We have been practising organic farming for several years now in order to preserve this land that is so dear to us. Since 2020, we have held AB organic-agriculture certification and have installed solar panels on the roof of our cellar. We have also been awarded Ecocert certification.    Like many plots on the island, our vineyard is planted in granite soil. In the shallow depth of this poor and acidic soil, each of our vines feeds on the strength of its roots. This is what gives our wine its assertive character, marked by authenticity.   As hard-working and passionate winemakers, we strive each year to produce high-quality wines. With a traditional mix of grape varieties in the Ajaccio region, we are proud to be able to give our wines this controlled-origin appellation (AOC).

From our vines

to your tasting

glass

With the Vermentinu being based on unique grape varieties, our AOC white wines release an amazing rich aroma. To complete our production, we also harvest grapes to make a very fruity Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, labelled IGP Île de Beauté. Our red and rosé wines are made from a blend of fine-tasting and authentic grape varieties. The fresh and spicy notes of Sciaccarellu grapes beautifully marry with the fragrance and solidity of Niellucciu.

Tasting

Enjoy a pleasant stay on the west of the Ile de Beauté to savour our very best AOC wines. Make yourself comfortable in the heart of our radiant estate and enjoy this sweet and timeless moment. From production to your tasting glass, we will be delighted to share our passion for the region with you.   Over the years, we have been immensely proud to express the Ajaccian terroir through our wines. As one of the smallest wine-growing areas in France, we strive to offer you an experience as unique as it is intense. Let yourself be guided by each of your senses to fully enjoy this experience.    Raise your glass and discover our noble and island grape varieties. The floral sweetness of Vermentino and Muscat à Petits Grains will delight lovers of whites, while the more pronounced character of Sciacarello and Nielluccio will seduce connoisseurs of reds and rosés. The riacquistu (reappropriation) of Corsican viticulture aims to enhance our production with its strong identity. The Island Viticulture Research Centre (CRVI) has allowed us to highlight local grape varieties by introducing Minustellu, a forgotten red-grape variety.
